A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a code that identifies a specific digital document. In many cases this document is an electronic journal article. It's similar to the ISBN system for books.

Each database lists article DOIs in a different place, so we have created a Library Guide with screenshots and examples of where to find DOIs in each of the databases and vendors. See the Persistent Links and DOIs Library Guide for instructions on how to find an article DOI in the library databases.

Note:  In most cases RefWorks will pull an article's DOI automatically.
