Our Field Searching guide has more information on which fields work well for different search strategies.

One of the most effective ways to focus your search is to use Field Searching to look for your search terms in specific fields.  Some of the most commonly used fields are: Abstract, Subject, Title, and Author.

Looking for your search terms in a specific field will return fewer, but more focused, results than searching the full text.
